Order a test

We will send you a test in an unmarked package, to any UK address or to one of our 4,000 Click and Collect points. Postage is free. We have arranged a special half-price offer of £15 with BioSure UK, our test kit supplier.

As part of our coronavirus response, test kits are currently free to eligible users in some areas. In England, these are the council areas of Bedford and Central Bedfordshire, Brighton and Hove, Calderdale, Cumbria, Doncaster, Dudley, East Yorkshire and Hull, Essex, Southend and Thurrock, Herefordshire, Lincolnshire, Norfolk, Rotherham, Sefton, Suffolk and Wolverhampton. In Scotland, these are areas covered by the NHS Health Boards for Fife, Lanarkshire, Ayrshire & Arran and Tayside. Order a kit to an address covered by our free service and you won’t be asked for payment. If you’d like a free HIV test and aren’t covered by this service, use our test finder to search for free self testing and postal testing in your area.

Our self test involves taking a small blood sample from a finger prick. Follow the simple instructions and you will be able to read the result yourself within 15 minutes.

To order your self testing kit from Terrence Higgins Trust, please fill in your details below. We will share your name and address securely with BioSure UK in order to supply your order. They will only use this data to post you the testing kit.

This test is for people who do not know their HIV status, or whose last test was negative. If you are on PrEP or thinking about starting, please read this information about self testing and PrEP.

Why test

Around 8% of people living with HIV in the UK don’t know they have it. The only way to know your HIV status is to get tested. Testing puts you in control of your health.

If you have HIV, the sooner you find out and start treatment, the better it is for your health. Effective HIV treatment means you can expect to live as long as anyone else and can prevent you from passing the virus on.

Remember: a negative test result in the past is no longer accurate if you’ve taken risks since.
