Order a test

If you’re based in Scotland, you can order a free test kit from this form.

We will send you a test in an unmarked package to any UK address. Postage is free.

Our self tests involve either taking a small blood sample from a finger prick or swabbing along your gums. Follow the simple instructions and you will be able to read the result yourself within 20 minutes.

This test is for people who do not know their HIV status, or whose last test was negative. If you are on PrEP or thinking about starting, please read this information about self testing and PrEP.

We offer kits at the low prices of £15, with free tests available too:

  • Test kits are currently free to eligible users in some areas where locally funded. In England, these are the council areas of Brighton and Hove; Milton Keynes; Norfolk; and Suffolk. In Scotland, these tests are free and are available here.

  • Order a kit to an address covered by our free service and you won’t be asked for payment.
  • We are funding free tests for eligible people on low incomes who can’t afford to pay. You will be able to choose this option on the payment page.
  • If you’d like a free HIV test and aren’t covered by this service, use our test finder to search for free self testing and postal testing in your area.

To order your self testing kit from Terrence Higgins Trust, please fill in your details below. Your name and address will be shared securely with our supplier in order to send your order. For blood tests, that is Owen Mumford Ltd and their logistics partner; for oral tests, it is Invitech Ltd. They will only use this data to post you the testing kit and deal with any delivery enquiries. Kits are sent via Royal Mail.

Why test

Around 5,000 people living with HIV in the UK don’t know they have it. The only way to know your HIV status is to get tested. Testing puts you in control of your health.

If you have HIV, the sooner you find out and start treatment, the better it is for your health. Effective HIV treatment means you can expect to live as long as anyone else and can prevent you from passing the virus on.

Remember: a negative test result in the past is no longer accurate if you’ve taken risks since.
